BPC-157 for dogs and cats: the honest guide

BPC-157 for dogs and cats: the honest guide

BPC-157 is the peptide working- and sport-dog owners won't stop talking about. If you have a dog slowing down, a cat with a stubborn gut, or an animal recovering from a strain, it is probably the first name you have heard. Here is the honest guide.

What BPC-157 is

BPC-157, "Body Protection Compound 157", is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide originally derived from a protein found in gastric juice. In research it is studied for supporting tissue repair in tendons, ligaments, muscle and connective tissue, for anti-inflammatory signalling, for blood-vessel formation, and for protecting the gut lining.

The honest evidence

Where the science sits

Most published BPC-157 evidence is rodent and other preclinical work, with minimal controlled companion-animal data. It is genuinely promising and very widely used anecdotally, but it grades as emerging, not proven, and we say so plainly. What we guarantee instead is verifiable quality: every batch independently tested, with a COA in every order. Start at the safe minimum dose and involve your vet.

How it is dosed

BPC-157 is supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) vial you reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. It is given as a small subcutaneous injection dosed by body weight, typically once daily. As a rough research range, small animals are often discussed around 0.1–0.3 mg per kg; larger animals scale up from there. Our calculator converts your pet's exact weight into insulin-syringe units, but the final dose is a decision for you and your vet.

Giving it at home

A subcutaneous injection uses a tiny insulin needle into the loose skin of the scruff or flank, the same jab diabetic pets get daily. Pinch, insert at 45°, press, release. It takes seconds, and every order includes a step-by-step guide. Many owners run BPC-157 with TB-500 as the BPC-157/TB-500 Blend, both in one vial.
